The other day, Mark and I were waiting for the bus into town and I spied a kid walking across the street. He looked about 12 years old, maybe 13, dressed in your typical track suit with canvas sneakers. A typical kid from our neighborhood (though don't get me started about the track suit thing). Then I noticed that he was walking down the street with his left hand shoved down the front of his pants. "Why is that kid walking around with his hand down his pants?" I asked, appalled. Mark informed me that walking in such a fashion is the new thing with the kids. It's, like, gangstah or something. Then I recalled that I saw another kid doing it a few days prior, but I figured that the kid must just be a moron or something. Well, he might have been, but apparently this kind of moronic behavior is catching on.
Ummm...ew. What the hell? These kids are putting their hands all over their junk, then going on their merry way, touching bus railings, door handles, retail items, and getting their little junk germs all over town. Blech! "Our society is becoming degenerate," I said forlornly. Then Mark told me I sounded like an old lady. Well, I guess I am.
Disgusting. Now that you mention it, I think I've seen it. I just thought it was people being freaks, I didn't realize it was a 'thing'.
ReplyDeletedont be a snob, u in d7 now homie
ReplyDeleteMy husband would say the same thing to me. I think we have to stop using 'D7' as an excuse for unacceptable behaviour! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to start wearing gloves everywhere. Better to look like a bank robber, than to pick up some germs. I could make a remark about D4 but I'm in Ringsend, so it doesn't really count.
ReplyDeletehaha, actually i didnt say angela was being an old lady, i said she was defending an imperialist idea of civilization!
ReplyDeleteCulture! Umm, so do girls to it too? or is strictly a boys-only thing?
ReplyDeleterandom question. (I just discovered your blog, and have been reading today. I am moving to Ireland in September to join my partner.) Did you ever find a job??
ReplyDeleteHeck no! I don't even really look for work anymore, since the situation is so hopeless. Once a week or so, I look at the listings. There's never anything for me. I tried to get into a FAS course twice and even that seemed hopeless. Then again there are other people who have had better luck than myself.
